Slap

Privacy Policy

What Slap Does

Slap is a novelty Android app that detects physical slaps using your phone's accelerometer while it runs in your pocket. It counts slaps, plays sound effects, and lets you share clips of your best slaps.

Data We Collect

  • Anonymous user ID — generated automatically via Supabase anonymous authentication. This is a random identifier; it is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information.
  • Leaderboard score — your slap count, submitted to a shared leaderboard.

That's it. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, browsing history, or any other personal information.

Sensors & Permissions

  • Accelerometer — used to detect slap impacts. Sensor data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted.
  • Microphone — may be used to capture a short audio clip around a detected slap for the share-clip feature. Audio is recorded locally, stays on your device, and is only shared if you explicitly choose to export and share a clip. We never upload, store, or access your audio recordings.
  • Foreground Service — keeps slap detection running while the app is in your pocket. This is required by Android for background sensor access.
  • Vibration — provides haptic feedback on slap detection.
  • Internet & Network State — used solely to submit your leaderboard score.
  • Notifications — shows a persistent notification while slap detection is active, as required by Android.

Data Storage & Security

Leaderboard data (anonymous ID + score) is stored on Supabase servers. No personally identifiable information is stored. All communication uses HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or any other third-party tracking services.

Children's Privacy

Slap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Since we only store anonymous IDs and scores, no personal information of any user is collected regardless of age.

Your Rights

Since we only store an anonymous ID and a score, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you uninstall the app, your device-side data is removed automatically. If you wish to have your leaderboard entry removed, contact us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the app's data practices change. Updates will be posted at this URL. Material changes will be noted in the app's Play Store listing.
